About New Mt. Tabor UMC
Our Mission
At New Mt. Tabor UMC, we are dedicated to spreading the love and teachings of Jesus Christ to our community and beyond. Through our various ministries and programs, we strive to make a positive impact on the world around us.
Our History
New Mt. Tabor was organized in 1884. It was first called "House's Grove" in honor of Mr. and Mrs. David A. House, who gave two acres of land upon which the church was built.
In 1911, the church was renamed Mt. Tabor, and in 1943, the church was renamed again as New Mt. Tabor.
Located on Millingport Road in the Ridenhour community, the church has progressed from a white one-story frame church to its present two-story brick structure which was built in 1954. Classrooms for Sunday School were built onto the back of the church and completed in 1969. The new family life center was completed in 2020 giving opportunities to broaden our ministries in the name of Jesus Christ.
New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church has been a cornerstone of our community for over 135 years. We have a rich history of serving others and sharing the message of Jesus with all who will listen.
